The Alcoa Foundation is sponsoring educators in Alcoa communities to participate on a hands-on scientific research expedition with Earthwatch TeachEarth in Summer 2015. This fellowship allows educators to travel to beautiful, natural environments in North or South America; participate in hands-on, scientific research alongside the world’s top scientists; network with colleagues from across the United States; and incorporate the experience and discoveries into lesson plans or curriculums. To see the list of the 2015 locations go here. The fellowship award covers food and accommodations for the duration of the expedition, as well as a USD $1000 travel stipend to cover the costs of transportation to and from the expedition site. Fellowship recipients will be asked to submit a lesson plan or community action plan inspired by the expedition and thank you letter to the funder. The application deadline is February 20th; to apply go here.
