We have featured Daves Avenue Elementary School, in Monte Sereno, California, before, but we thought you would like to hear some of the new ways Daves is going even greener! Daves Avenue promotes Safe Routes to School, posts Grades of Green’s Earth Tips monthly, and promotes Grades of Green’s No Idle Zone at drop off and pick up. In light of California’s drought, they made announcements during an assembly and have posted water conservation signs above all the school sinks and drinking fountains. Check out out Grades of Green’s School Wide Water Reduction Activity. Additionally, to reduce litter Daves has created the Garbage Challenge. The Garbage Challenge is a game where one class each week is allowed access to a special trash can. After recess, the class of the week must collect as much litter and leftover trash that is in the area. At the end of the Garbage Challenge, the class that has collected the most trash wins. Keep up the great work Daves Avenue! To learn more about Grades of Green’s trash reduction activities, go here.
