Because of the generous donation from The Manhattan Beach Farmers Market and The Downtown Manhattan Beach Business Owners, Grades of Green was able to inspire and empower kids and the local Manhattan Beach community to care for the environment at the Farmers Market on June 3rd. It was a wonderful environmental event with fresh, local produce, eco-friendly crafts and games, and exciting marine animals. Over 40 children participated in the fun eco-scavenger hunt created by Grades of Green. This eco-challenge encourages children to explore the farmers market, sample new, fresh produce, and ask questions about environmental practices. Because of their participation, the kids earned one carrot coin, worth one dollar, to spend at the Farmers Market. Also, dozens of children stopped by the Grades of Green booth to create celery and lettuce scrap stamped cards. Grades of Green spread the message of reusing and composting! The Roundhouse Aquarium also participated by bringing their touch tank and spreading marine awareness. Do your children want to participate in the scavenger hunt and earn a carrot coin? It’s not too late! This eco-challenge can be found here or you can stop by the Farmers Market Information Booth every Tuesday in summer from 11am-5pm to participate! One parent stated, “It was great! (My kids) had so much fun!” We are so thankful to The Manhattan Beach Farmers Market and The Downtown Manhattan Beach Business Owners for their partnership.
