Grades of Green had even more reason to celebrate Earth Month as two Youth Corps students received Environmental Hero Awards at Polliwog Park’s Earth Day event on April 25: Joshua C., a 5th grader at Meadows Elementary in Manhattan Beach, and Sam H., a 10th grader at Notre Dame in Sherman Oaks, CA.  These students were recognized for being true environmental leaders in their community.  Two years ago Joshua became a Green Representative at his school, and he really enjoys working in a team setting with his friends to help his school be more eco-friendly. This year, Joshua created posters, poems, and an entire water conservation campaign on his campus. He then went from class to class to educate each student about how to reduce water. For the past four years, Sam has hosted a shoe collection campaign, donating the used shoes he collects to those in need. Thus far, Sam has collected over 5,000 pairs of shoes!  Grades of Green is honored Joshua and Sam have been recognized for their environmental achievements and we know they will be two environmental leaders of the future.
