The parent volunteers who run the Grades of Green program in the MBUSD were honored by the city council for their efforts to green the schools. Every elementary school in Manhattan Beach has implemented the Grades of Green program and the results are amazing. Students are bringing trash-free lunches and walking to school. Recycling at the schools has increased and toxins on campus have decreased. These efforts have garnered attention from Waste Management and Keep America Beautiful who have made donations to the program. The parent volunteers have worked extremely hard to make these changes, but it is paying off as the schools are seeing a definite shift in attitudes.
