Over 10,000 participants helped collect
44,038 pounds of trash from the local beaches and inland waterways on Coastal
Cleanup Day.  The event is coordinated in
LA County by Heal the Bay in partnership with the Los Angeles County Department
of Beaches and Harbors and the California Coastal Commission and Grades of
Green helped spread the word.  The debris
collected included things like cigarette butts, plastic bags and Styrofoam
containers.

Coastal Cleanup Day is a great event
that allows volunteers to help the environment while getting to know and make
new friends.  If you weren’t able to
participate this year, please keep it in mind next fall!
