Grand View Elementary School has implemented an environmental education program that teaches students how to care for the planet. Parent docents are trained to teach various subjects and pass this information along to the students in their classrooms. “Having the parents teach the classes takes the burden off teachers that are already maxed out”, says Lisa Coppedge, co-founded of the Grades of Green program. So far, the students have learned about composting, watersheds, recycling, and how to reduce their carbon footprint. See the article in The Daily Breeze.
