Grades of Green is teaming up with The Plastiki to teach students across the globe about conservation. The Plastiki is a boat made entirely from plastic water bottles. The boat is equipped with bicycles welded on the back of the boat used to generate electricity, a composting toilet, a hydroponic garden to grow fruits and vegetables for the crew, solar panels, and the glue used was made from cashew shells and sugar! This innovative boat is sailing from San Francisco to Sydney to raise awareness about the amount of plastic in our oceans. The journey is being followed by classrooms all over the world and Grades of Green is working closely with the Plastiki to develop materials for the students that teaches them about conversation. Our Trash Free Tuesday program will be featured in this research pack! Look for more to come as this project evolves!
