Grades of Green Youth Corps student, Reece, knows how to think ahead and prepare for a wet Southern California winter! For her Grades of Green Youth Corps Project, 5th grader Reece wanted to find a way to utilize the upcoming El Niño rain storms to their full potential while also having a positive impact on the current drought. Reece partnered with the West Basin Water District to host a Rain Barrel Giveaway, which allowed 200 families in her community to receive a rain barrel for their home, free of cost. The event took place on Saturday, November 7th at the Hermosa Beach Community Center, and many residents were eager to line up bright and early to get their rain barrel! The event was a huge success– way to go Reece! To learn more about the 2015-16 Grades of Green Youth Corps Eco-Leadership program, click here.
