Farmer’s Market Meal

Believe it or not, one of the best ways to reduce your carbon footprint is through eating a farmer’s market meal. A farmer's market meal consists of acquiring locally grown food from farmer’s markets in your geographic area. Acquiring your food from local sources reduces your carbon footprint, because your food isn’t shipped by airplanes, trains, and trucks across long distances. You can choose to host a Farmer’s Market Meal fundraiser at school, or simply make a healthy and delicious meal at home to eat with friends, family, or your classmates. You can even encourage your school to offer locally sourced meals in your school cafeteria, which can result in a healthy, environmentally friendly lunch for all students attending your school!
