Rain Barrel

Rain Barrels are large containers used for collecting and storing rainwater above ground. They are generally installed so that rainwater can be stored and used later, which is especially important during droughts or shorter periods between rainfall. Rain barrels are also used for storm water management by reducing surface runoff, which means they contribute to reducing flooding from the rain water that isn’t absorbed into the ground. In this activity, your school will learn about the resources for acquiring rain barrels, as well as where and how to use rain barrels on your school grounds.
