Green Ribbon Schools is an award program that recognizes schools participating
in activities that promote and encourage a healthy and environmentally friendly
learning environment. With the help from private foundations and
nonprofit sectors, green schools are able to take advantage of grants,
volunteer support, education resources, etc. to become more sustainable and
save money while doing so. Some of these opportunities include sending
difficult to recycle items to Terracycle for money and implementing a Walking
