Congresswoman Jane Harman visited Grand View Elementary school on March 8th to view the Grades of Green program in action. She was greeted by the Grades of Green team, Bev Rohrer, Superintendent of the Manhattan Beach Unified School District, Rhonda Steinberg, Principal of Grand View, Portia Cohen, Richard Montgomery and Wayne Powell, City Council members and many others excited by the Congresswoman’s visit. She was particularly impressed by the broad approach the school is taking towards conservation encompassing everything from native gardens to getting rid of all toxic cleaning supplies in the District. Some of the students participating in PE had the opportunity to say hello and the Grades of Green Student Council Rep, Jane Fishman, got to shake the Congresswoman’s hand. Diane Moss, the Congresswoman’s Environmental Deputy, is looking for ways to help bring Grades of Green to many of the school’s in the Congresswoman’s District.
