President of Niko Partners

Lisa Cosmas Hanson is the founder and president of Niko Partners, a market research and consulting firm covering the Asia video games market. Lisa founded Niko Partners in 2002 and has since honed her expertise in the Asia games industry that has benefitted Niko’s clients, companies that are global leaders in game publishing, game services, hardware, and investments. 

In addition to managing Niko Partners, she has spent 30 years as a research analyst of the games and technology markets, Asian and Chinese market entry consultant, Japanese equities analyst, and US-Japan economic policy analyst. 

Lisa has made numerous presentations to audiences large and small for conferences on her topic of expertise and appears regularly in the media such as The New York Times, Bloomberg Business Week, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones, Reuters, BBC, CCTV, Financial Times, The Washington Post, and Venture Beat, among others. 

She earned an MA in International Economic Policy from The American University in Washington, DC, and a BA in Political Science & International Affairs from UCLA. 

Lisa has lived and worked in Tokyo, London, southern China, Silicon Valley, New York and Washington DC, and has traveled extensively for business throughout Europe and Asia. Lisa speaks Japanese and is studying Mandarin. 

Lisa contributes her time to help promote youth activism and education on the environment in local schools in Northern California where she and her husband have two teenagers in public school, and for international exchange programs to promote peace through intercultural understanding (which is her motto). She sits on the Board of Advisors of Grades of Green, a non-profit that empowers students to be stewards of the environment, and on the Board of Directors for the Monterey Waterkeeper.
