8th grade student, Aidan is passionate about reducing the number of single use plastic water bottles used at his school. Aidan found out that each year, his school consumes over 38,000 plastic bottles, and for his Youth Corps Green Project, Aidan went on a mission to change that! With the goal of reducing the amount of single use bottles by two-thirds, Aidan is fundraising to purchase hydration stations to replace some of the water fountains on campus. He has presented to his district and PTA to ask for their support, and has completed numerous grant applications to raise the funds necessary. In an effort to educate the campus community, Aidan and his green team strung over 1,000 plastic bottles to create a display at the front entrance of his school. The display includes facts about the environmental impact of people choosing single use plastic bottles; it is a wonderful sight!
