The Richstone Family Center is an incredible nonprofit dedicated to strengthening families – now they can add going green to the ways in which they operate.  Youth Corps students Allie and Olivia brought recycling and composting to the Richstone facility and taught around 50 kids in Richstone’s Kid’s Club how to recycle and compost with a fun lesson that included teaching the kids how to use their sorting station, how to add in fruits, veggies and browns to the composter and turn it, and play fun environmental games like “What Goes in a Landfill?” and “Trash-ketball”. With help from the City of Hawthorne in donating the composter and recycling carts and Allie and Olivia’s education, the 50 families of Richstone have all the tools they need to reduce their waste.
