This Fall, Grades of Green is lucky to have a team of student interns and volunteers helping with Grades of Green Programs.  Check out how they are helping Grades of Green inspire and empower kids to care for the environment.  Interested in interning or volunteering with Grades of Green next semester? ARIANA

Ariana is working with our Youth Corps Eco-Leadership Program this fall. She is originally from good old Gilroy, California, the garlic capital of the world. Ariana recently transferred to Cal State Long Beach and is studying Environmental Science and Policy with a minor in Geography. In her spare time she loves spending time outdoors, just like many of our Youth Corps students. She wants to do as many new hikes as she can while living in SoCal. She is excited to work with our Youth Corps students as they decide on their Grades of Green Projects.

MIKALINA

Mikalina is working with the Grades of Green’s Communications Team this fall. She is currently in her freshman year at the University of Southern California and is studying Public Relations. She enjoys spending her time outside of the classroom working as the floor manager for USC’s student-run TV network, ATVN. Mikalina also serves as Social Committee Chair for USC Annenberg’s Latino Student Association where she does PR work for the club and its associates. Although her main focus is PR, Mikalina also has a deep passion for the environment. Her passion for the environment stems from environmental science courses she took while in high school. Because of these classes, she realized the importance of raising awareness about taking the steps necessary to creating a healthier, more sustainable planet. She feels that environmental change is much needed and the best way to bring about this change is to start with the youth of our generation. Mikalina is amazed by Grades of Green’s programs and is eager to partake in such an incredible organization.

JENNA

Jenna is a Trash Free Lunch Challenge intern at Grades of Green with a passion for using environmental sustainability as a way to improve the well-being of both people and the planet. She loves how Grades of Green empowers students to do just that. Jenna is currently a senior at UCLA where she is majoring in Economics and minoring in Environmental Systems & Society. As an “environmental studies major at heart,” Jenna has contributed to campus sustainability efforts by leading the UCLA PowerSave Campus team, supporting UCLA Housing & Hospitality Services’ sustainability program, collaborating with UCLA Facilities as the co-leader of the Recycling Action Research Team, and educating the campus community as a leader of UCLA’s largest student sustainability organization, E3: Ecology, Economy, Equity. Interested in environmental education and what individuals can do to make a difference, Jenna is loving the work she has been doing with the Trash Free Lunch Challenge, especially directly engaging with students about what they can do to make their school lunches trash free.

Additionally, thank you to our high school volunteers from Mira Costa High School and Da Vinci Learning Academies (Chase, Christian, Collin, Khalin, Kole, Thomas and Troy) for helping make our programs possible!
