Walnut Park MS STEM Academy, the WINNER of the water conservation category of Grades of Green’s <a href=" Spring 2018 Water Challenge, is using their prize grant funding to expand their community’s water efficiency efforts, building on their four-month awareness campaign. Student leaders awarded the community members that conserved the highest number of gallons of water during their campus-wide Water Action Week with reusable water bottles, which reduce waste from single-use plastic bottles as well as conserving water. The Walnut Park MS STEM Academy Grades of Green Team is also implementing the grant to expand the school’s native garden, which is home to drought-tolerant plants that require little water to thrive. Congratulations to Walnut Park MS STEM Academy’s eco-heroes for conserving over 600,000 gallons of water during the Spring 2018 Water Challenge and for expanding their water conservation projects to save thousands more in the future!
