Educator at Rogers at Rogers Middle School
Pamela Weinstein is a 26-year English and environmental teacher in Long Beach Unified School District. She has been advising her self-created, Green Team elective for seven years resulting in earning the California Green Ribbon in 2017 all while using the Grades of Green curricula. In addition, along with other green teachers has developed the Think Green sustainability program for LBUSD.
Using the many campaigns from Grades of Green has inspired her students to present to the LBUSD school board, district leaders as well as the mayor and Long Beach City Council. They were finalists in the waste campaign in 2016 and made a 90% drop in lunch waste. Her school has kept up the process and continues to donate hundreds of pounds of food. The food is rescued by Food Finders, an organization that she also proudly serves on the Board of Directors.
Pamela graduated from the University of Denver and then earned her credential and Master’s at Cal State University, Fullerton.
