Zarinah was born in South Florida, but she has spent 10 years of her life in Southern California.  Her love for beaches, protecting nature, and environmental education started early when she went from experiencing the negative impacts of hurricanes every summer to experiencing many mountain fires in her southern California neighborhood. These experiences–along with her taking an environmental science course in high school–inspired her to major in Environmental Science at the University of Florida. Now, she is passionate about mitigating Climate Change, alleviating poverty, equitable natural resource management, and environmental justice and education. Zarinah is excited to join Grades of Green as a Climate Corps Americorps Fellow and work to guide a new generation of environmental leaders. In her free time, you can find Zarinah relaxing at the beach, reading a mystery novel, experimenting with new dinner recipes, spending time with friends, or attending a concert.
