Grades of Green was well represented at the Manhattan Beach Earth Day Festival 2013. First, Youth Corps student Abby Landers received a much-deserved award for her environmental stewardship in the community. Next, the Grades of Green Youth Corps held a “Trashy Free Living” educational training, where students Lauren, Annemarie, Samantha, and Sam all spoke about green projects they have implemented to make a less trashy world. Finally, students Kaitlyn, Travis, Jane, and Jenna manned a Grades of Green booth, where they taught kids about how and why to protect the environment through games like “Trashketball” and “How Long is Until It’s Really Gone,” where students sort trash and learn about how long it takes for items to decompose in the landfill.
