It was a green grand finale at the Murad Headquarters on May 18th. Thanks to Murad, the 2013-14 Grades of Green Youth Corps students showcased all of their environmental achievements that they have been striving towards throughout the year. Students braved the podium in front of family, friends, and community members to share what they have done to care for the environment. A few highlights include Rylee G, a third grader who held an Earth Day Fair and spread information about how to save the oceans and Aiden H., an eighth grader, who is fundraising for a hydration station to reduce single-use water bottles. After their presentations, the Youth Corps were thanked with food from Fresh Brothers Pizza, cookies from Becker’s Bakery, and goodies from Wean Green, Go Green Lunch Boxes, Murad, Waste Management, LAcarGUY, Bagitos, and the Goldfarb family. They were also awarded certificates of appreciation from the County of Los Angeles and Grades of Green. One Youth Corps parent commented, “Their presentations were amazing! Thanks for a great afternoon and for inspiring these kids to make a difference. They couldn’t do it without the Grades of Green team’s help and guidance. Grades of Green rocks!” We are so proud of all of the Youth Corps accomplishments this year. From collecting e-waste, to starting recycling programs, to creating No Idle Zone legislation, these students truly have the power to empower and inspire each other, their schools, and the world to care for the environment.
