Grades of Green Youth Corps students Cosmo, Elise, and Carissa, along with other students from their school, found a creative way to spread spread awareness about plastic pollution. At First Friday’s in Long Beach, they displayed a turtle they created entirely from trash collected from their local beaches. These middle school students used “Toxic Turtle” as a conversation starter and invited viewers to consider how they can be part of the solution. They encouraged everyone to reduce their single-use plastic consumption and refuse it when they could. Inspired by “Toxic Turtle” and want to create your own art using litter? Check out Grades of Green’s Litter Monster and Water Refill Station projects to see how you can help Cosmo, Elise, and Carissa reduce the amount of trash found on the beach and the amount of single-use plastic found in schools!
