Welcome to the ultimate challenge of truth and influence.
Beyond the Headlines is a 4-day lesson series in partnership with Beyond, a leader in plant-based food innovation, where students design a compelling, science-backed media campaign to combat misinformation about plant-based foods and highlight their environmental and health benefits.
In the modern digital age, facts about critical issues like sustainability and food are constantly battling a flood of fake news and sensational narratives.
This is your mission: move past passively consuming information and become a designer of influence.

Sustainability Leaders in the Food Industry
A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study, reviewed by a panel of third-party specialists, was conducted by an international expert in food system sustainability and compared the environmental impact of Beyond Burger® 3.0. with an 80/20 ¼ lb. beef patty produced in the United States. The result? Producing a Beyond Burger® uses significantly less water, land and (non-renewable) energy – and it generates 10x less Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHGE) than a beef patty.
